Was ist ein Designated Router?

Ein Designated Router (DR) ist ein Router, der für bestimmte Aufgaben mit höchster Priorität zur Verfügung steht. DR-Router sorgen für die Verteilung der Aktuialisierungsinformationen innerhalb einer Area, wodurch sich die zu übertragenden Link State Advertisements (LSA) reduzieren lassen.

Was ist eine BGP Session?

Die direkten Verbindungen zwischen benachbarten Routern werden manuell angegeben. Router, welche miteinander über BGP Routing-Informationen austauschen wollen, bauen zunächst eine TCP-Verbindung auf, über welche dann die BGP-Nachrichten gesendet werden. Diese Verbindung nennt man eine BGP-Session („Sitzung“).

The OSPF Router ID is used to provide a unique identity to the OSPF Router. OSPF Router ID is an IPv4 address (32-bit binary number) assigned to each router running the OSPF protocol.

What is a router ID (rid)?

Each OSPF router selects a router ID (RID) that has to be unique on your network. OSPF stores the topology of the network in its LSDB (Link State Database) and each router is identified with its unique router ID, if you have duplicate router IDs then you will run into reachability issues.

In this lab you will statically configure the Router-ID’s on all routers in the topology using the router number as the router-id. i.e; R1’s router-id would be 1.1.1.1 Familiarize yourself with the following new command (s); This command is executed in OSPF router configuration mode to statically configure a router id on a specific neighbor.
