Wie werden Opioide eingeteilt?

Opioide werden in schwach wirksam (z.B. Tramadol, Tilidin) und in stark wirksam (z.B. Morphin, Oxycodon) unterschieden. Diese Einteilung ist insbesondere für die Schmerztherapie nach dem Stufenschema der WHO von Bedeutung.

Sind Opioide Analgetika?

Opioide sind erprobte Schmerzmittel. Sie enthalten opiumartige Wirkstoffe, die im Schlafmohn natürlicherweise vorkommen. Am bekanntesten ist Morphin (früher: Morphium). Opioide hemmen gezielt die Schmerzübertragung, vor allem in Gehirn und Rückenmark.

In welcher Stufe ist novalgin?

Zwei weitere häufig angewendete Schmerzmittel sind Metamizol (Novalgin®) und Flupirtin (Katadolon®), die eine Art Mittelstellung in der Behandlung zwischen den Stufen I und II einnehmen.

Opioidanalgetika sind stark wirksame Analgetika aus der Gruppe der Opioide. Sie entfalten ihre Wirkung an Opiatrezeptoren des ZNS und hemmen dort die Entstehung und Weiterleitung von Schmerzen.

What is the difference between an agonist and antagonist?

An antagonist is a drug that blocks opioids by attaching to the opioid receptors without activating them. Antagonists cause no opioid effect and block full agonist opioids. Examples are naltrexone and naloxone. Current medication examples include: Full opioid agonist – Methadone; Partial opioid agonist – Buprenorphine

How do agonist drugs work?

Agonist drugs are those that bind to receptors, activating them to produce a biological response. In the case of opioids, the main targets are the u-opioid receptors in the brain which are activated when the opioid drug attaches to them.

Is buprenorphine an agonist or antagonist?

Buprenorphine is an example of a partial agonist. An antagonist is a drug that blocks opioids by attaching to the opioid receptors without activating them. Antagonists cause no opioid effect and block full agonist opioids. Examples are naltrexone and naloxone.
